Calendar Events

How do I create an event on my Calendar?
To create a single event, double-click the calendar to which you want to add the event. It will become highlighted with the longest bar of color. You may add an event four different ways:

For any view: Click Add Event, and fill in the information.

Month View: Double-click the calendar day where you want to add the event and then, double-click the time box corresponding to your event start time.

Month View: Double-click the calendar day where you want to add the event and then, double-click the time box corresponding to your event start time.

Day or Week View: Click at the start time of your event (within the correct date) and drag your mouse down to when the event ends, and then release your mouse. The day and time of your event will be automatically entered into the Event Details dialog box.

How do I enter an event that doesn't have a specific time?
To enter an event that does not have a specific time during the day, first create an event in your calendar. Then, in the Event Details dialog box, choose No Time. When viewing your Jooners' Calendar, this event will be shown at the top of your calendar in the light gray bar. Examples of No Time events are vacations, when company is visiting, school holidays, etc.

How do I create a series of repeating events on my calendar?
To add a series of repeating events on your calendar, create an event following the same steps as those used in scheduling a single event. Then click the box next to Repeat Event, and a drop down dialog box will give you various choices for the frequency of the repeating event. You can use the pop-up month calendar to quickly select the last day of the repeating period. Then click Save, and the series of events will show on your calendar.

When I create a new event, on what calendar will it appear?
Your newly created event will show up in the calendar that you selected, which is identified by the highlighted extended color bar over the calendar name. When you are inside the Event Details dialog box, you also can choose which calendar to drop an event into by clicking on the drop-down arrow that says Calendar (top, right-hand side), and selecting the specific calendar in which you would like the event to appear.

How can I print my schedule?
A print button appears at the top of the different views (day, month, and year) of your calendar directly under the turquoise header. All printing appears in the agenda style, with a list of events and times for each. If you want a picture of your calendar (so that it resembles the calendar view), then you need to take a screenshot using the Print Screen button on your PC keyboard or Grab application on a Mac (tip: Control+SHIFT+3). You can then paste this image into a MS Word file and print it.

How do I invite guests to an event?
To invite someone to an event entered on your calendar, double-click the event to bring up the Event Details dialog box. Click the Invite Guests tab at the top. To select the guests that will receive an email invitation, click the Select from My Groups & My People button. Select the groups or individuals to be invited to your event, or you may type in the email addresses directly into the text box. You may enter a customized note to your guests that will appear on the invitation – which will automatically include the name of the event, date, time, and location details. Click Preview to see how the invitation will look before sending. If you are not quite ready to send the invitation, simply click Save, and all the selections and entries you have made will be saved, but no invitations will be sent yet. When you are ready to send the invitation, click the Send button, and your invitation will automatically be sent via email to the people and groups you have selected. Recipients will be able to RSVP for your event online. Click the Invite Guests tab to see the RSVP list in the Guest Summary. Click in the Yes box to view the names of quests that have RSVP'd that they are coming. Click in the No box to view the names of those that have RSVP'd that they cannot come.

How do I assign drivers for an event listed on my calendar?
You may assign drivers to an event that you created by selecting the Assign Drivers button in the Events Details dialog box. A Drivers tab will then appear at the top of the Event Details dialog box. Click this tab, and the Drivers dialog box will open. Fill in the driving time information and click Select Driver. This will take you to the Choose from My Calendars or My People dialog box. If you select a My Calendar, the driving event will appear on this calendar. If you select a driver from My People, no further action occurs. You are simply selecting a name for the driving responsibility to help you remember.

How will I be reminded of an event?
When you RSVP to an event, an email reminder will automatically be sent to your email, reminding you of the event and the number in your party that you included in your RSVP. The invitation will appear on your home page in your My Jooners box. Click this item to view the invitation at any time and, under the Invite Guests tab, learn who has RSVP'd and how many guests are in each party.

How do I manipulate the view of the calendar?
The general controls for how you can view the calendar are in the turquoise header. Click Today to drive the calendar to today's calendar page. Clicking on Day, Week or Month will change the view of the calendar to that duration, while maintaining the same calendar date you were in when you clicked these. For example, if you had been looking at a date in the summer to plan your vacation, and clicked Week, the week with the summer date in it would appear. By clicking the Agenda button, you will see the view you have selected in an agenda format. There is also a mini-calendar you may access by clicking on the calendar icon in the Calendar page header located to the left side of the month. If you click on a date in the mini-calendar, it will drive the main calendar to that date.

Shared Calendars

How do I share a calendar in Jooners?
A calendar may be shared with an individual or groups of people in your My People or My Groups lists, or who you have emails for. Under the Calendars section, select the particular calendar you want to share by clicking its name. Next, click Change/Share in the Calendar header bar. The Calendar Details dialog box will then appear. Select Share under the What Others See drop down. You may then select Share Free Time or Share All Details. Sharing Free Time enables all recipients with whom you shared your calendar only to see when you are unavailable – but no other details. However, if you select Share All Details, the recipients will see all the event details you have entered on this particular calendar. This can be handy to share a calendar with a spouse, child-care professional or best friend. As you update a shared calendar, all changes are reflected simultaneously and in real-time on your friends' or groups' view of this shared calendar.

Can members in a group add events to a shared calendar that they did not create?
No. Only the person who created the calendar can make changes within that particular calendar.

Community Calendars

How do I publish a calendar to the Community Calendars in Jooners?
You may publish a calendar that can be accessed by any registered Jooners member. To start, just follow the same steps noted above under Shared Calendars. In order to publish a calendar, however, select the Publish button at the bottom of the Calendar Details dialog box. This button will take you to the Publish Your Calendar dialog box, where you will fill in a calendar title, choose the appropriate category within the Jooners Community Calendars section, fill-in the calendar related City and State (that is, the location of events), and a Brief Description of what the calendar includes. When you have filled out these fields, click the Submit button, and your calendar will be available in Community Calendars in the community section of Jooners. All registered Jooners members will be able to see all the details you have entered on a published calendar.

Can I make changes to a Community Calendar I previously published?
Yes. When you publish a calendar to the Jooners' Community Calendars, it is automatically synchronized with your original calendar. If you make changes to events, times, or details within the original calendar, these changes also will be made instantaneously to the published Community Calendars version. What cannot be changed are the details you entered when originally publishing the calendar (e.g., the Calendar Title, Category, City, State, and accompanying Brief Description). These details can be changed, but only if you unpublish the calendar, then re-publish it after you re-enter the fields in Publish Your Calendar window and click the Submit button.

May I remove or delete a calendar I previously published to Community Calendars?
Yes. To unpublish (but not delete) a calendar you previously shared or published to Community Calendars, go to the CALENDAR tab and select the specific calendar you want to unpublish. Then select Change/Share located above in the Calendar bar. The Calendar Details dialog box will appear. Click the Unpublish button, and this calendar will no longer appear in Community Calendars. However, the calendar still will be accessible to you or any other person with whom you shared the calendar. You can republish it to Community Calendars again at a later time.

To permanently delete a calendar that was either shared with others and/or posted to COMMUNITY CALENDARS, go to the CALENDAR tab. Double-click on the specific calendar you want to delete so it is highlighted with the longest bar of color. Select Change/Share located in the Calendar heading bar.
