COMMUNITY CALENDARS

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What are Community Calendars?
Community Calendars are calendars of events posted by other Jooners members. They represent calendars from various geographic areas and represent large and small events for public and private groups.

How do I publish a calendar to Community Calendars in Jooners?
First find the community section in Jooners. To do this, login, click the CALENDAR tab, then click the link in the lower left side of the page that says See events in my community. Then click the COMMUNITY CALENDARS tab.

You may publish a calendar that can be accessed by any registered Jooners member by following the same initial steps noted under Sharing a Calendar. In order to publish a calendar, select the Publish button at the bottom of the Calendar Details dialog box. This button will take you to the Publish Your Calendar dialog box, where you will fill in a calendar title, choose the appropriate category, fill-in the calendar related City and State (that is, the location of events), and a Brief Description of what the calendar includes. When you have filled out these fields, click the Submit button, and your calendar will be available in Community Calendars. All registered Jooners members will be able to see the details you have entered on a published calendar.

Can I make changes to a Community Calendar I previously published?
Yes. When you publish a calendar to the Jooners' Community Calendars, it is automatically synchronized with your original calendar. If you make changes to events, times, or details within the original calendar, these changes also will be made instantaneously to the published Community Calendars version. Anyone who has brought an event from your published Community Calendar into one of their My Calendars will not see the change you have made as this is now on their private calendar. Therefore, it is important to have the information you publish on your Community Calendar as accurate as possible. Note: SHARED calendars auto-update when the sharer makes any changes.

What cannot be changed are the details you entered when originally publishing the calendar (e.g., the Calendar Title, Category, City, State, and accompanying Brief Description). These details can be changed, but only if you unpublish the calendar, then re-publish it after you re-enter the fields in the Publish Your Calendar dialog box and click the Submit button.

May I remove or delete a calendar I previously published to Community Calendars?
Yes. To remove (but not delete) a calendar you previously shared or published to Community Calendars, go to the CALENDAR tab, and select the calendar you want to delete. Then select Change/Share located above in the Calendar bar. The Calendar Details dialog box will appear. Click the Unpublish button, and this calendar will no longer appear on the Community Calendars page of Jooners. However, the calendar still will be accessible to you or any other person with whom you shared the calendar, and you can republish it to the Community Calendars page again at a later time.

To permanently delete a calendar that was either shared with others and/or posted to the Community Calendars page, go to the CALENDAR tab. Select the specific calendar you want to delete, and then select Change/Share located in the Calendar heading bar. The Calendar Details dialog box will appear. Click the Delete Calendar button. This calendar will be deleted from any Jooners members calendars that you had shared it with, as well as from the Community Calendars page of Jooners.

How to copy an event from a Community Calendar to my calendar?
Within the Community Calendars tab, browse and select the category of interest. When you find a Community Calendar that you want to add to your group of calendars in the CALENDAR tab, click the Show on My Calendar button. This calendar will automatically be listed under your Community Calendars selections, and when selected by checking the box adjacent to this Community Calendar, the events from this calendar will show on your personal My Calendar.

If you only want some, but not all, of the events from a Community Calendar to show on your personal calendar, you should click on the title of the event in a Community Calendar. This action opens the Event Details box for that event. In the upper right section of the Event Details box change the Calendar in the pop up menu to one of your personal calendars. This action will add this event to your personal My Calendar - where you can then modify it in any way and/or invite friends to join you! When you are finished selecting events from a Community Calendar you may delete that Community Calendar to clear up space on your dashboard. You can always add the Community Calendar again later if you like.
